Kit Kat Birthday Cake

Kit Kat Birthday Cake - lined with candy bars, this birthday cake is topped with M&M candy and semi-sweet chocolate chips.

Let’s not get crazy here.

This is the recipe today: Best 3rd Birthday Cake Ever For a Chocolate-Loving Little Girl

The necessary parts?

1 cake of choice + 1 chocolate-crazed little birthday girl + 1 chocolate-loving, extreme-dieting, favorite uncle – fallen off the sugar-busting wagon = the most perfect 3rd birthday cake experience ever.

Need I remind us all – she’ll only turn three once. . . .

And her Uncle? Well, his niece will only turn three once.

It was sort of a necessary tumble from the wagon, and – I think – completely worthwhile . . . as long as he lived through the night post sugar-shock.

Pssst! Uncle C, are you out there?

Are you alive?

Yeah. We enjoyed it.

Cake from a box, Guys. Frosting too.

It’s OK.

No one needs to know.

In fact, I told no one and accepted compliments like a well-mannered lady.

And as far as the health ramifications of processed cake smothered in processed candy go?

Moot point.

It was totally worth the look on her face – and her uncle’s too.

Kit Kat Birthday Cake

Rating: 51

Yield: 16-24

This recipe is not really a recipe. It's just a cake from a box, pre-made frosting off the shelf, and candy plastered all over it. Simple - And totally awesome for making a little kid's eyes bug out in pure delight.

Ingredients

  • 1 (2 layer) cake from a box (I used Duncan Hines Classic Yellow Cake)
  • 1 can chocolate frosting (I used the Betty Crocker Rich and Creamy Chocolate with Hershey's Chocolate)
  • 9 (yes, 9) original sized packs of Kit Kat bars
  • 28 Hershey's Kisses, unwrapped
  • 4-5 handfuls of M&M's
  • 2 handfuls of semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions

Bake the cake. Frost it. Smother it with candy: line the outside with Kit Kats (each one separated from the "brick", then, starting on the outside edge of the top, create a row of Hershey Kisses, then spread "path" of M&M's, then fill the center with chocolate chips.

  1. I have a soon-to-be (4)3 year-old in my house who would love this too… Once again you have inspired me to greatness my friend!!!

  2. Let’s just say favorite Uncle C stepped on the scale after having partaken of the Best 3rd Birthday Cake Ever and had gained 7 pounds. His extreme diet is now in the negative by 3. Maybe Super Chef Sara could make the next post involve something with lots of fiber, you know, to help a brother at least get back to 0.

    • LOL!!! My goodness – what it took to get you to comment!! Aww. Poor Uncle C. Fiber heavy salads it will be then! I’ve heard jump-roping works wonders too. . . . And doesn’t beer have fiber in it? 😉
