OK Vegetarian(s) – yes, You.
You know who I’m addressing.
This one is for you. Continue reading
It was cold here this last weekend.
I want to say, “unseasonably” cold, but that’s not true.
It’s winter.
After years of living in this climate though, a humid and windy 52 degrees F can practically freeze your ears off.
Really. Continue reading

Thoughts I have had over the last few days:
1. I am never. ever. going on a cruise.
Sorry, family members who have been trying to convince me for the last three years. This latest debacle with Carnival leaves me with even less desire to set foot on a ship.
They had to use bathroom baggies, folks.
Baggies.
No thanks.
Plus, the ship could have sunk. Continue reading
Pretend you asked me what food I might prepare for my Valentine this Thursday.
Pretend you asked me to make suggestions from recipes I’ve shared here.
This is what I would tell you:
were amazing.
UH. MAZE. ING.
They simmer for hours in red wine and butter.
We all know there can’t be anything bad about that.

I’m considering giving up sweets.
*Gasp*!
I know. I know.
Those of you who know me, know me well.
I cannot possibly give up sweets.
I might give up candy though. . . . my Sixth Earthly Love after my husband and children.
But I have no other explanation for this gorgeous muffin top that spills over my jeans every morning. . . except for my lack of exercise and a complete and utter neglect to consume vegetables. Continue reading

I think the boys in our lives must get a little annoyed with us foodie people when we get a hold of the Superbowl Sunday game day menu.
Tomato Basil Bruschetta?
Spicy Humus and Whole Wheat Pita Chips?
Shrimp Scampi?
I’m sure their swollen, football-pumping veins must vibrate a smidge as they forcefully will themselves not to go Hulk and lose their football sh** when they discover there is not a lil’ smokey or Dorito in sight. Continue reading

Just look at this bread.
It looks, well. . . awesome, right?
What’s that?
You think it looks burnt?
Huh. Continue reading
What’s not to love about pasta and olive oil?
Especially when you add in a little butter, loads of garlic, a few flecks of red pepper and top the whole thing off with some fresh grated Parmesan cheese.
I feel like Giada with a big toothy grin when Pasta e Olio is the dish of the evening.
I’m indulging the child in me who just wants pasta and butter, but pretending it’s more grown up – which – who are we kidding – it’s not.
But it’s romantic.
I’m not kidding here. Continue reading
You know what I had appreciated this day on vacation?
All those moments were snapshots I consciously clicked and logged away in the photo album of my heart.
But scrolling through the pictures this morning I was stopped short when I came to this one.
It’s dad and daughter on the bunny hill lift.
Let your mind register for a moment.
My husband is a grown man (obviously).
That lift chair must be about 4′ wide.
The focus of the shot is on father and child.
But look at the tree branches.
They are MASSIVE.
Hey All!
Where have you been for the last three weeks?
What have you been doing?
What have you been eating?
I really want to know these things – because I’m curious, and because I’m going to tell you about me, and it’s just rude – and boring – if the conversation is one-sided.
What I really want to know is if you stuffed your face full of candy for the last twenty-one days straight. Continue reading
