Summer is here.
Time for barbecues and sunset ‘getties’ in the street. (If you’re over 30, I know you’re wondering: getty = a get together).
Time for bean dips and icy drinks with beads of sweat dripping down their red, plastic Solo cup sides.
Yes. I think so.
Grapity-grape juice is a sorely under-used cocktail mixer in my opinion.
Why does this poor little juice of childhood bliss sit on the back burner for happy hour consideration?
I don’t know.
But we’re bringing it back – with gusto.
Summer time, summer time, sum-sum-summertime, here we come. . . .
Start with cut fruit – preferably grapes and cherries. Toss into an ice tray and pour your favorite white wine over the top. ( I used Sauvignon Blanc)
Cubes of wine-marinated fruit emerge hours later, and bob up and down in your glass of cold, fizzy refreshment.
They’ll eventually settle to the bottom – and serve as a light bite while you’re waiting for the grill to heat.
- 2 ounces good quality vodka
- 2 ounces grape juice
- Seltzer water
- 2 fruit and wine ice cubes.
Combine vodka and grape juice in a glass. add ice cubes, top with desired amount of seltzer, and toast to the start of summer.
